Minecraft servers on veld.amloessb.com In re setting expectations -------------------------- Veld is a server which I lease from a colocation provider and administer for my own personal enjoyment, as is likewise the case for the Minecraft servers I run on it. I play Minecraft on my server to relax and de-stress, and if I find that your actions on the server are causing me *more* stress, you will find yourself banned in short order. The overarching rule on this server is, "don't be a dick." However, some people have trouble understanding what that means in the context of a SMP environment. Therefore, I have put together the following ground rules to clarify the basic expectations I have for players who choose to join. Ground Rules ------------ These rules are not exhaustive, and are only examples of how you should conduct yourself on my servers. 1. If it's not yours, don't touch it. Pretty self-explanatory, but if you find something that's not part of the worldgen, and that you didn't put there, LEAVE IT ALONE (unless you have permission from the player who did put it there to be messing with it). No toggling levers, pushing buttons, opening doors, breaking blocks, etc. This includes a prohibition on snooping around inside bases into which you have not previously been invited. Doing so carries a very high risk of messing up something that the other player has carefully set up, even if you don't think you will break or modify anything. 2. Notify the owner immediately if you manipulate anything they have built. If you do manage to break, toggle, etc. anything that another player has built, INTENTIONALLY OR OTHERWISE, you must notify the owner of what you have done or caused to happen as soon as humanly possible. If you cannot readily determine who the owner is, or if it is possibly not owned at all, you should send a broadcast to all users of the server (or at least to myself, the server operator), detailing what has occurred. 3. No PvP without the consent of all involved. PvP is "opt-in" on this server. You may not attack any other player unless the two of you mutually agree to engage in PvP with each other. Also note that a player's agreement to engage in PvP with a player other than yourself does not mean you may engage in PvP with them. You must separately agree with them to engage in PvP with each other. 4. Be considerate of others in the load you place on the server. When other players are on the server, please be mindful that you do not cause undue lag. All of the normal things you might do to reduce lag apply, with the following explicit stipulations: * BC and Mekanism Pumps are forbidden in the Nether. Ender-thermic only. * You may run only one Digital Miner at any time, and should run it far from where any other players have built structures, so as not to inadvertently damage them. You may not, simultaneously, run a Digital Miner along with any other automated mining machine. * If you choose to utilize BC Quarries, then you are limited to only one max-size quarry (64 x 64 blocks) at a time or, equivalently, a maximum of 25 chunks total being loaded by smaller quarries (press F9 in-game to see which chunks your quarries are loading). * If you choose to utilize any other automated mining machine, the above maximum of 25 loaded chunks applies. * You may, additionally, manually force up to 9 other chunks to remain loaded to facilitate the operation of your base or other (non-mining) machinery. If you have trouble with this limit, remember that chunks extend vertically from bedrock to max height. * Shut down or otherwise cut power to your machines, networks, etc. before disconnecting from the server. In addition to saving you fuel, this will prevent the server from having to run all of your machinery while you are offline. There is an absolute prohibition on running any kind of automated mining machine while you are not logged in and actively playing on the server. 5. No arguments where I can see them. If you're going to argue with someone, take it somewhere else where I can't see it. There aren't very many things that stress me out more than people arguing in chat while I'm trying to build. Specifically, anyone arguing about where someone can or cannot mine resources will be kicked immediately, and anyone continuing to argue afterward will be banned. You are playing on an effectively infinite, procedurally-generated world, for crying out loud. 6. When in doubt, don't. If you have to ask yourself, "Would what I'm about to do be considered 'being a dick'?" then yes, it is, and also don't do it. If you really feel you need to ask the server operator, you may.
